The Lab Network India
INVITING young people with Aspergers/ High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder with “passion for technology” to join early intervention program for development of employment skills
The Lab Network Australia has been running Lab sessions for young people with high functioning autism since 2011. Young people who have completed The Lab program have experienced enhanced technical skills, increased self-efficacy and confidence, improved motivation at school and a sense of new possibilities for the future.
The Lab Network (India) is calling for young people with high-functioning autism or Asperger Syndrome between the ages of 10-16 and with a passion for technology, to join an after school/weekend program that can provide increased potential for technology employment outcomes.
Two-hour group sessions will be held after school hours at Gurgaon once a week and will involve mentored activities such as programming, 3D, digital design and gaming.
The Lab’s approach is unstructured and does not have expectations of specific education or technology outcomes. By pairing young people who have High Functioning Autism with tutors who have technical expertise in areas of mutual interest, The Lab seeks to improve the wellbeing and life prospects of young people who are often highly skilled but whose condition can lead them to fall through gaps in the mainstream education system.
The program is delivered in India by Sarthak Foundation in collaboration with The Lab Network, Australia.
